The Black Swan Edition combines black upholstery with a durable matte-black e-coat finish on its aluminum components. It is easy to wipe clean and designed to maintain its understated appearance through everyday use.

Why Black Swan?

Black swans were once believed not to exist, until their discovery overturned what the world thought it knew. The name feels fitting for a chair designed to challenge one of the most deeply held assumptions about sitting: the 90-degree angle.

The name was suggested by one of our backers, Taheerah, and we couldn’t have named it better. Thank you, Taheerah.

Ten Days on the Production Floor: The Final Engineering Push

TL;DR

- Factory completion is now targeted for the end of November, about two weeks past our July target. That time is going into building in the longevity improvements we identified, and they are all detailed below.
- The first validation run completes mid-October on final production tooling. Each unit is inspected individually before the main production is released.
- Region-by-region shipping windows will be published by mid-October.
- Every chair ships with free upgrades: larger 75 mm casters, the finished headrest, and a long list of durability improvements detailed below.
- The next update will show something many of you have been asking for.

We have just returned from ten days on the production floor, working side by side with our engineering team and lifecycle specialists we hired from the best names in seating - people who know exactly where chairs may fail years down the line.

As you know, the Vision Chair is backed by a 10-year warranty. The objective of these ten days was to reassess every component, mechanism, and material against one question: will this not just reach a ten-year service life, but exceed it?

We are building a fundamentally better way for the human body to sit, and the chair has to earn that ambition in every detail. Those 10 days were incredibly intense as we went as deep as we possibly could. 

So, Here Is What Changed Inside

Some of the most important improvements are the ones you will never see.

Backrest lock: the lock threads now use a finer pitch. Stronger clamp with the same hand force, and no working loose over years of use.

Internal gears: upgraded to zinc alloy, chosen for consistent strength in high-load mechanisms.

Lock housing: now aluminum instead of plastic. A locked backrest carries real force, and the housing now matches it.

Tension adjustment: a refined thread pitch makes the dial about 25% easier to turn across its full range.

Brass at the contact points: brass replaces steel where metal meets metal inside the adjustment mechanism. Brass is naturally low-friction, so the action stays smooth without depending on grease.

Reinforced gas-spring head: more material exactly where impact loads concentrate. Every time you sit down, the end of the stroke takes the force; over a decade, that is hundreds of thousands of cycles.

Gas-lift finish: a QPQ salt-bath nitride treatment for wear and corrosion resistance, carrying its own 10-year guarantee.

Self-adjusting lever linkage: now spring-tensioned. The lever feel you get on day one is the lever feel you get in year ten. Nothing drifts, nothing needs re-adjustment.

Mechanism cover fit: the cover sits flush within a defined gap specification, and every gearbox knob is verified against a measured clearance spec on every single unit. Correct tolerances on day one are what prevent play and rattle in year five.

Recline valving: enlarged valving reduces internal resistance, so the backrest moves more fluidly, and the action is built to stay that way across hundreds of thousands of reclines.

Height adjustment: the standpipe now runs on the longest, lowest-friction bushing available, with O-rings sealing the grease in place. The height action feels the same in year ten as out of the box.

And wherever metal slides past metal, bushings now prevent rubbing, noise, and surface wear.

The Headrest, Finished

In July we showed you the continuous, button-free height adjustment. The finished headrest goes further. Height travel increased from 80 mm to a full 100 mm, the extra range taller users asked for. It now also adjusts in depth: a push button moves it through five locking positions across 50 mm. New internal guides remove side-to-side play, so it feels solid wherever you set it.

Seat Shell Replaceable, No Tools Required

The seat shell now attaches & detaches without tools. If foam, fabric, or shell is ever damaged, you replace the component at home, not the chair. A chair designed to last ten years should also be designed for maintenance.

The new backrest and seat shells are molded from a tougher, scratch-resistant material, with the foam edge captured behind the shell lip: no visible joint line, no exposed edge to catch.

An Upgrade You Will Feel: Larger Casters

Every Vision Chair now ships with 75 mm casters, up from 60 mm. They roll more smoothly, clear carpet edges more easily, and give the chair a more planted stance. Once we tested them on the finished chair, going back was not an option. Included at no additional cost, like everything in this update.

What Happens Next

The improvements above added about two weeks to the schedule. In July, we communicated mid-November for factory completion; our current target is the end of November. Those two weeks are spent building the changes into the tooling and validating them properly. 

The first batch validation run completes in mid-October, with the first units built on final production tooling, each inspected individually. Selected units go to independent laboratories for certification.

Both Vision models passed our internal testing earlier this year, with loads and cycles beyond the standard requirements, and we are now re-running the full program on the final configuration. External certification follows before the main production run is released.

By mid-October, we will publish the planned region-by-region shipping windows based on confirmed freight routes. Once validation completes, we will confirm those windows and communicate any adjustments immediately.

Everything above exists for one reason: when your chair arrives, it has to be the best chair you have ever sat in, and still feel that way ten years later.

Five Final Upgrades and Our Updated Production Timeline

From day one, our mission has been to redefine the way the world sits.

For generations, the largest companies in office furniture have defined the standard. Their chairs became icons, and the 90-degree sitting position became the way the world was made to sit.

For Elevated Seating to succeed, the Vision Chair cannot simply be different. It has to outperform the iconic chairs that came before it in every meaningful way.

There is no room for compromise, if something can be meaningfully improved, we improve it. That is an incredibly high bar. It has to be. 

Our last update came from Chicago, where the Vision Chair received a Best of NeoCon 2026 Innovation Award. Hundreds of people experienced Elevated Seating for the first time. Watching person after person sit down skeptical and stand up convinced was something we live for. 

Since launching on Kickstarter, we have completed three full iteration cycles and made more than 32 improvements to the chair you backed.

Today, we have five final upgrades to show you.

New: Backrest Lock

Movement is at the heart of Elevated Seating, so locking the chair initially felt like the opposite of what we had designed. We explored the function early in development and decided against it. 

But visitors, distributor partners, and several of you asked for the same thing. The use case became clear: sometimes you want the chair to move with you, and sometimes you want the backrest completely firm.

So we built both.

The new lever on the left side lets you lock the backrest firmly in place or leave it free-floating.

The mechanism has been tested, signed off, and released into final tooling. Like every upgrade before it, it will be included at no additional cost.

Complete: Backrest Flex Tension Adjustment

The tension adjustment we announced in May is now complete.

Behind the dial is a complex gear system that must calibrate the backrest resistance across a wide range of body weights, remain smooth and easy to adjust, and hold that calibration through years of daily use.

Because every Vision Chair is backed by a 10-year warranty, feeling right on day one was not enough. The system also had to be precise, repeatable, and built to last.

Four rounds of refinement later, the final mechanism is signed off and released into tooling.

Refined: Adjustment Handle

We wanted the handle to feel as good to use as it looks.

We refined the knurling for better grip and tilted the handle downward by seven degrees so your wrist stays in a more natural position when you reach for it.

New: Continuous Headrest Adjustment

The headrest now has continuous, button-free height adjustment, something we never planned for originally.

No buttons. No fixed steps.

Slide it to exactly where you want it, and it stays there. Raise it fully, and the mechanism resets.

New: Fingerprint-Resistant Aluminum Finish

Until now, the exposed aluminum components on the Vision Chair were polished. The finish looked beautiful, but untreated polished aluminum has one weakness: fingerprints can be difficult to remove.

We could not accept that, so we are adding a proprietary transparent treatment over the polished aluminum. It makes it much harder for skin oils and moisture to adhere, so fingerprints are less visible and much easier to wipe away without compromising the mirror-like finish. This is one of the most advanced and costly aluminum-finishing processes we have chosen for the Vision Chair. 

We have not seen it used this way elsewhere in the seating industry, and the exact process will remain proprietary for now.

What matters to you is simple: the aluminum will stay cleaner and be much easier to maintain.

Like every other upgrade in this update, it comes at no additional cost to you. 

The Timeline

Today, we finalized the production plan with our manufacturing team:

• Remaining tooling completed by early September.
• First 100-unit validation run completed by mid-September, followed by certification, on-site quality control, and final handover through late September.
• Main backer production assembled and inspected throughout October.
• Factory completion targeted for the end of October. We are communicating mid-November as the completion window, allowing contingency for final checks and any necessary corrections.

Our previous update said production would wrap in August. The additional tooling and iteration cycles on the tension lock & adjustment have moved that schedule.

We know you are waiting longer than we promised, and I take responsibility for that.

We pushed hard to protect the original timeline. In the end, meeting it would have meant freezing the design while meaningful improvements were still within reach. That may have protected the date, but compromised the reason we started Levitask.

If the Vision Chair is going to change the way the world sits, it cannot launch with compromises we already know how to solve.

That work is now complete.This was the final mechanical iteration before mass production.

Shipping

Backer shipments are expected to begin leaving the factory in the second half of November. If the additional contingency is not needed, we will move sooner.

Delivery timing will vary by region based on freight routes, customs clearance, and local fulfillment. Factory departure and doorstep delivery are not the same date, so we will provide separate, realistic windows for each region.

We will publish the complete region-by-region shipping schedule by October 10, after the first 100-unit run has cleared validation and the freight plan is confirmed.

Tooling Timeline, Zero Series Feedback, and Locking in Final Upgrades

Hi Visionaries,

As promised in our last update, we spent the back half of April deep on the factory floor reviewing the final production models and digesting the feedback from the Zero Series units we shipped across four continents. We are putting together a short behind-the-scenes video update from the manufacturing floor, which we will post on our Discord channel shortly, but today, we need to talk about the final engineering upgrades and our timeline.

As we mentioned previously, we are adding the Backrest Flex Tension Adjustment to the final production models so you can dial in your ideal recline resistance. We did not originally plan to add this function, but we knew it was the right call, and many of you asked for it, so we needed to map out exactly what that meant for our manufacturing schedule.

See our approved prototype below. Note: production version will have a sleek chrome finish.

Cutting the new steel molds for this tension mechanism is going to take 60 days. There is simply no way to speed up that tooling process. Because of this, our timeline to kick off mass production is shifting to the beginning of July, with production wrapping up in August.

One thing I want to make very clear: The tension control, upgrading to a custom-bounce gas spring, brand-new premium fabric, memory foam, and multi-hardness foam do add to our manufacturing costs. But we are absorbing 100% of it. Every single one of these upgrades will come at absolutely no extra cost to you.

In the meantime, we haven't just been waiting on molds. Our team has been obsessing over every tiny detail that could be 1% better. Here is everything we just locked in based on our Zero Series feedback:

Comfort, Upholstery & Geometry

New Premium Fabric: We have upgraded to a new premium stretch fabric that looks and feels incredible, allowing us to avoid any visible stitching and making it very easy to clean, as shown below. 

Headrest Foam: Upgraded to Memory Foam. 

New Seat Shape & Foam : The seat shape has been redesigned with a more pronounced cavity, and features multi-layer hardness. 

Lumbar Alignment: We tweaked the lumbar support geometry - bringing it up and adjusting the depth - so it hits the absolute perfect spot.

The Perfect Bounce: We realized that shorter, lighter users had to put in too much effort to lower the chair when it was elevated. We are reducing the Newton force in the gas spring so it glides down effortlessly. The New Gas Spring now also comes with a premium bouncing effect. 

 

Hardware & Finishes

Premium 4D Armrests: The 4D armrests now feature a full-aluminum support structure for buttery-smooth movement. For mass production, the push-button will also be solid aluminum. 

New Armpads: We set out to find the softest armpads we could find in the industry, and we did.

Flawless Folding Armrests: The folding armrests are fully solved. We added a friction washer to the hinge to kill any wobble, and we're using a countersink design so there are no visible screws.

Safety & Reliability: We completely addressed the pinch points near the T-Mech.

Stability & Impact Testing : We passed extensive durability and load testing. 

We pushed incredibly hard to meet our original delivery dates. However, we've always known that if faced with the choice between shipping on time or shipping a great product, we will choose the product.

Our goal has always been to fundamentally change the way the world sits. We only get one shot at this, and we refuse to compromise.
